Magician Sussex. Last week I drove my little smart car all the way to East Grinstead in Sussex for an 18th Birthday party for Emmy. I was booked to perform as a close up magician to provide a little magic and glamour to the party.
Quite often at parties I get booked for large corporate functions. Usually doing table magic for 10 tables or more or drinks receptions for over 100 people. I was booked here in Sussex to perform close up magic during the drinks reception for a small group of Emmy and her friends. There were 20 guests there. It was a glamorous intimate setting. The girls looked stunning and the boys looked very dapper dressed in tuxedos. I was made to feel welcome by the family as soon as I arrived and I knew I was going to have a lovely time performing close up magic there.
Most of the group had never seen a magician close up before, let alone a female magician. It set the evening off beautifully whilst the group were eating canopies and drinking champagne. I took small groups of the guests to one side at a time and did some mind reading and card magic which went down a treat. The group mainly consisted of girls so it was nice to hear how impressed they were that female magicians exist and close up magic isn’t just for boys.
I could tell how much me being there had set the tone for the evening. I performed for around 45 minutes which was the perfect amount of time for a small group. People can sometimes forget that hiring a magician shouldn’t be based on the amount of time they are there but for the impact they have on the evening and the feelings they leave behind. Seeing magic close up is a beautiful thing and will leave great warmth and memories for people to cherish for a very long time. I could feel it in the room at the time that this wouldn’t be a night that they would forget in a hurry.
Emmy put a nice photo reaction of some of her friends on Instagram – see above :)
